branch railing

check out these 30 different decorations that were crafted using twigs and branches. these remind me of mountain laurel handrail made for a deck or stairs railing

reuse handrails

this is a great way to reuse old handrail sections. it's a simple project to make an organizer out of an old section of deck railing or stairs railing. this example looks like it  came from a craft room but I easily imagine those tidy racks transformed into bins of nails and screws.

when this wood railing is installed, old railing sections like these are normally donated to the Habitat for Humanity.

check out this cool pic of a stairs railing fixture. I'm not sure if this was a native black and white but regardless it's got nice contrast in the white line diagonal in the frame.

hey everybody! check out this pic of guys hard at work installing a glass railing. this is a great look except for the person that has to clean the fingerprints.

baby falls through railing

a baby fell through a seventh (!!!) story balcony railing and was miraculously caught by a passing physician. The boy fell nearly 80 feet but the doctor managed to put him to sleep before the ambulance arrived. for those that are wondering about the parents, they had reportedly "popped out" for some shopping but had left the boy with his four year old sister.

beach railing

here's a cool shot of a metal railing on the beach. I really like the asymmetry and the contrast between the bright white sky and the dark black pavement.

craftsman stairs railing

check out this craftsman style stairs railing. it had been hidden between two pieces of plywood before being exposed during a remodel. I really like the shadow lines that the railing casts on the pictures hung on the wall.

science and metal railing

here's a good use for metal railing: science. this is an after-school science and math club and they are testing parachutes that they have designed and made.

maybe they could analyze some wood railing patterns and see if the have any elements of chaos theory.

exterior railings
